KIWP requested Korean Social Science Data Center (KSDC) to conduct a survey on the ¡®Political Consciousness of Young Voters in the 20s and 30s¡¯ between 13 and 15 June 2003.

The subjects of this survey were 1,000 people in the 20s and 30s sampled nationwide.

The outcome of this investigation tell us that Korean young generation in the 20s and 30s are a group with not similar ideology orientations but quite different ideology orientations and that the level of political participation and the political consciousness of Korean women in the 20s and 30s are not different from those of Korean men in the same age group. In fact, these more women participated in the presidential election in 2002 than men in the same age group did.

Especially, the survey revealed that the Internet and the mass media played a important role to affect the political participation of the Korean young generation.

Based on the result of the survey mentioned before, KIWP held its 14th-anniversary seminar on "Political Consciousness and Political Participation of 20-30s Voters" on 2 July 2003.
Submitted to the UN New York Headquarter a quadrennial report on the KIWP¡¯s activities (1999-2002)
